About Oral Semaglutide (Wegovy Pill)

Oral semaglutide 25 mg is the pill form of Wegovy, approved in December 2025 for chronic weight management. It delivers the same GLP-1 receptor agonist in a once-daily tablet.

This is a branded medication from Novo Nordisk — not a compounded version. It uses a proprietary SNAC (sodium N-[8-(2-hydroxybenzoyl) amino] caprylate) absorption enhancer that protects the peptide from stomach acid and enables oral bioavailability.

In clinical trials, the 25 mg oral dose achieved weight loss comparable to the 2.4 mg injectable dose. For patients who prefer pills over injections, this represents a significant advancement.

How it works

Oral semaglutide uses the same mechanism as injectable semaglutide — GLP-1 receptor activation that reduces appetite, slows gastric emptying, and improves metabolic health.

The key innovation is the SNAC absorption enhancer, a fatty acid derivative that temporarily raises the local pH in the stomach and promotes transcellular absorption of the semaglutide peptide across the gastric lining.

What happens after this library page

Diagnostics or uploaded-lab review

Metabolic care starts with current biomarker context or a clinician-reviewed upload of recent labs.

Clinician eligibility review

A clinician reviews contraindications, treatment goals, and lab context before any medication recommendation is shown.

Care plan before checkout

Treatment options, if recommended, are presented after care-plan review in a separate treatment transaction.

Monitoring cadence

Follow-up labs and ongoing review are matched to the treatment plan and biomarker profile.
