Telehealth Consent
Last updated: April 5, 2026
Purpose
This document provides information about telehealth services offered through the Varus platform and constitutes your informed consent to receive such services.
What is Telehealth?
Telehealth involves the delivery of healthcare services using electronic communications. Through Varus, you submit health information online, upload recent laboratory results or complete clinician-ordered testing when required, and receive clinician review based on the information you provide.
Nature of the Consultation
Consultations conducted through Varus are asynchronous, meaning your provider reviews your submitted information, laboratory data, and care-plan needs without a real-time interaction in many cases. Some states, programs, or clinical situations require a synchronous (live) consultation, in which case you will be contacted to schedule one.
Diagnostics and Results Review
Some Varus programs require or recommend clinician-ordered laboratory testing before treatment is considered. You may also upload recent labs for review. Lab ordering, sample collection, result receipt, and results-review visits are part of the telehealth workflow when clinically appropriate.
Risks and Benefits
Benefits include increased access to healthcare, convenience, and reduced need for in-person visits.
Risks include the possibility that the information you provide may be insufficient for accurate diagnosis or treatment decisions, potential technology failures, and the inability to perform a physical examination.
Your Responsibilities
- Provide accurate and complete health information
- Upload only complete and accurate lab documents when requested
- Inform your provider of all medications you are currently taking
- Follow up with your primary care provider or visit an emergency room for any urgent or emergent medical conditions
- Notify us immediately if you experience any adverse effects from prescribed treatment
Prescribing Provider
Medical services are provided by independent licensed clinicians using the Varus platform. The prescribing provider maintains full clinical authority over all lab-order, care-plan, and treatment decisions.
Privacy and Confidentiality
Your health information is protected under applicable federal and state privacy laws, including HIPAA. See our Privacy Policy and Notice of Privacy Practices for details on how your information is used and protected.
Right to Withdraw Consent
You may withdraw your consent to telehealth services at any time by contacting us at support@varushealth.com. Withdrawal of consent will not affect any services already provided.
Emergency Situations
If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room immediately. Varus and the clinicians providing care through the platform are not equipped to handle medical emergencies.
